It is rare for anyone in my family to get sick but when we do we always try to kick it to the curb quickly! And I mean quickly; my husband will drink two sick teas a day if not more combined with Dayquil, Wellness Formula. You name it and he is probably doing it. The philosophy in our household is... we have too much to do to be sick ("ain't no one got time for that")! And now as a mother it is no different because there is no worse feeling than when your child does not feel well so finding a cure quickly is always my goal. Especially when your child can not communicate how they are feeling or what is bothering them. So you just have to go with your gut and try different remedies hoping something works. With that said Kennedy got sick this week for the second time ever in her life, luckily I always keep my cabinet stocked with everything you can think of to get rid of any type of illness or sore. Because what is worse than your kid gets sick and now you have to go to the store in the midst of it all trying to figure out what they need. Or let alone you or your husband get sick and now you have to take your baby to the store to find a remedy for yourself. And let's face it ladies when the men are sick it's worse than when our children our sick! They are by far the biggest babies of them all so to keep my house running smoothly a stocked cabinet is a must.
So after much research and trial/error I have created my list of the top 11 items that you should keep in your medicine cabinet at all times thus preventing those late night frantic runs to the drug store! Also, I will note that I am all about home remedies and anyway to get rid of an illness the most naturally but sometimes good ol' medicine is just what the doctor prescribed!
Note these all are for children not what you should take as adults (although it is pretty similar), also I have posted the link for each item just click on the name:

Note these all are for children not what you should take as adults (although it is pretty similar), also I have posted the link for each item just click on the name:
- Children Motrin: If your little one is running a fever this is the best fever reducer especially over Tylenol.
- Hylands Tiny Cold Syrup: This is great to give to give to them at night when they are fighting a cold. By morning you should already notice a difference.
- Hylands Teething Tablets: Sometimes children will run a fever because they are teething and so now not only do there teeth hurt their body aches too. So these tablets atleast will rectify the teething pain. I swear my daughter get's so excited when she sees these because she knows it makes pain go away.
- Infant Tylenol: I use this when she does not have a fever but I can tell her teeth are bothering her (usually in combination with the teething tablets).
- Crane Humidifer: Yes this is a definite must. Since most children don't know how to blow their nose or want you anywhere near there nose this is a great solution to help them sleep better and get rid of that congestion.
- NoseFrida: Well like I mentioned above most kids HATE for their nose to be wiped or dug out etc. So this handy little tool is the best invention ever to suck that snot right out!
- Braun Forehead Thermometer: Ok let's be real no one wants to stick a thermometer in their child's butt and it's almost impossible to get it in their mouth long enough to read a temperature but the forehead thermometer now that is a life saver. Just a simple swish across the forhead and you have a read!
- Vicks Baby Rub: Best for their congestion I suggest doing this at night time or when you lay them down for a nap.
- Flax Oil: Now this is more a prevention not so much a remedy. Either I make Kennedy a smoothie or juice so I just put some in their and she never notices the difference. This came highly recommended by her pediatrician.
- Children Benadryl: This is a absolute must especially if you have a very young child. Before I gave Kennedy peanut butter for the first time I made sure I had this in the cabinet and low and behold I had to use it.
- Kids Relief Flu Oral Liquid: If you are into the homeopath remedies this is great one if they have the flu.
